Diabetes education program · 12 weeks · Online or in person in Tijuana

You don't need another diet.
You need to learn to live with diabetes.

If you live with diabetes or prediabetes, someone has already handed you a diet. Probably several. And yet, here you are. The problem was never you: a sheet of forbidden foods doesn't teach anyone how to manage a condition that's with you every single day. That is a skill you can learn. And teaching it is, literally, our job.

Sound familiar?

We hear this every day in consultation

If you recognize yourself in even one of these, this program was built for you.

They handed you a sheet of paper

You left the office with a photocopied diet: no tortillas, no bread, no sugar. You followed it for a few days, broke it, and felt guilty. The sheet failed you, not the other way around.

Every visit ends in a scolding

Your glucose came back high again, and all you hear is "you need to try harder." But nobody explains what to actually do differently on Monday morning.

You have a glucose meter, not answers

You prick your finger, see a 180 and… now what? Writing down numbers nobody taught you to read isn't monitoring: it's anxiety with a notebook.

You eat apart from your family

Your plate is different, at parties everyone treats you like you're made of glass, and there's always someone pushing nopal juice and miracle remedies. The diet cut you off from your own table.

You're afraid of ending up like…

You watched what diabetes did to your dad, your aunt, your neighbor. Deep down you believe it "gets you anyway." That fatalism is paralyzing, and it's also false: complications can be prevented.

You depend on others to understand your own body

What to eat, what to do with a reading, whether you can go to the party: every decision means asking someone else. Living on permission is exhausting.

Our approach

A diet treats diabetes like a punishment.
Education treats it like a skill.

A diet tells you what to do for two weeks. Education teaches you to decide for yourself, for good: understand your numbers, build your plate with your real food, and know what to do when the day doesn't go as planned. Our goal is unusual for this profession: to get you to the point where you don't need us.

And that's not a feel-good promise: diabetes self-care education lowers A1c and reduces the risk of complications. It's well documented, and it's the reason certified diabetes educators exist.

What we don't do: we don't forbid foods, we don't sell miracle products, and we never touch your medications — that's your physician's territory, and we work alongside them, not instead of them.

The program

The 8 skills you walk away with

A curriculum built on the 7 self-care behaviors, the international standard in diabetes education, adapted to your real life over 12 weeks.

  1. Understand your diabetes and your numbers

What A1c is, what each meter reading means, and what actually moves the needle.

  2. Eat with a method, not a list of bans

The plate method with your food: tortillas, home cooking and family parties included. Portions, not prohibitions.

  3. Monitor with a purpose

When to check, what to look for, and what to do with what you find. Make the meter work for you.

  4. Understand your medications

What each one does and why taking it as prescribed matters. Coordinated with your physician; we never change them.

  5. Move in a way that's realistic

Physical activity that fits your schedule and today's body — and lowers your glucose.

  6. Handle the hard days

Parties, cravings, low blood sugar, sick days: with a plan, not panic.

  7. Take care of your mind

Diabetes burnout is real and has a name. Managing it is a skill you can learn too.

  8. Prevent complications

Feet, eyes, kidneys: what to check, how often, and why. Trade the fear for a calendar.

FAQ

What you're probably wondering

Are you going to take away my tortillas?

No. We work with the plate method using your real food: tortillas, home cooking, whatever your family actually eats. You learn portions and combinations, not prohibitions. An eating plan you can't sustain at a family party isn't a plan — it's a countdown.

Does this replace my doctor?

No — it complements them. We never change your medications or your treatment: that's your physician's territory. In fact, your doctor receives a progress report after every visit, and if we spot something that deserves their attention, we send it their way. Many patients are referred by their own physician.

I've had diabetes for years. Is this still for me?

Yes. It's never too late to understand your condition, and the years of experience you already have become material we work with. And if you have prediabetes, this is exactly the right moment: it's the stage where education can change the story the most.

Is it for type 1 or type 2?

The program is designed primarily for type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. If you live with type 1, message us: we'll evaluate your case together with your physician, because self-care education applies too, but the clinical coordination is even closer.

Is it online or in person?

Whatever works for you: fully online by video call, fully in person in Tijuana (Plaza Tharmac, Zona Urbana Río, 15–25 minutes from the San Ysidro border), or a mix. Many patients do their first visit in person and follow-ups online.

How do I pay?

One payment of $249 USD (pesos welcome at the current exchange rate). We send you a secure payment link when you enroll; for in-person visits you can also pay in cash or by card at the office.
